ALI’s programs have positively impacted 1,300 girls to date:
Since 2011, Avasara has been effecting lasting change for India’s girls. By creating environments that produce role models and homegrown success stories of girls who lead, Avasara’s impacts go far beyond the classroom. For example, Avasara Leadership Fellows have spearheaded leadership projects such as online documentaries on gender, and the first-ever children’s library in Dharavi, which have garnered 500 views and over 2,000 community visits, respectively.
Students now see themselves as leaders in their family, community, and beyond.
- 550 scholarships awarded (AYT)
- 385 girls selected as afterschool Fellows (ALF)
- 215 girls enrolled in STEM camps (AYS)
- 50 girls admitted to Avasara Academy, with 100 students in the recruitment pipeline for 2016-17.

Avasara's approach of creating profound, lasting change for individual students is unique to India, where much attention is often given to scale. At Avasara, we strive to go deep, rather than go big, and fundamentally change the trajectory of our girls’ lives.
Avasara's transformative and sustained impacts on the lives of each individual student produce a lasting ripple effect as each student is cultivated to become a change-agent within her community.
